Two Questions

Tomorrow afternoon I will post my notes from Bible Study. Many of you may not read this until then, but two questions I'll be asking the ladies in attendance are:

1 - What has God taught you over the last year?

2 - What do you expect/would you like to see happen as a result of this Bible Study?

As with the ladies in attendance, this questions are for you. You may share your answers to both or one or none. I'll go ahead and share my answers.

I could spend the next three months sharing everything God has taught me, and probably will share quite a bit of it during the study. The biggest lesson, however, I've had is about God's ability to heal through prayer. I prayed for about 4 years for healing emotionally and physically in an area to no avail. I didn't understand why He wasn't taking this thorn away. Then I had another physical issue crop up and began praying for healing in that area. God chose instead, through sharing my first issue with a group of Christian ladies and them praying over and with me for healing to come in that issue. It was miraculous and God has completely turned that area of my life around. I still pray for healing in my new area of physical challenge, but only when it will bring God the most glory. As I look at the last year I know that I'm grateful that He chose to work in the area He did. He knows best and will work in us to heal our emotional and physical hurts when and how is best for us and will bring Him the most glory.

My goals for this Bible Study are to continue to live in Christ, be built up in him, strengthened in the faith and overflow with thankfulness (Colossians 2:6,7). My purpose is also to encourage you in heart and unity in love so that you may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that you may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:2,3)

See you Tomorrow!

God has been teaching me recently about how he feels about his children. I have had a situation where I have been estranged from people I truly love and care about and were an intergal part of my life. Through this he has shown me how He loves us through it all, how He is always right there for us, and how much He misses us. Everytime my heart breaks, or I hurt I can only imagine it is not even a 1% of what He feels when we are away from Him. It has given me a desire to show His love to them and to love them as He loves them but to also love others as He loves them.
I don't currently have a Bible Study group at my church and I miss it terribly. That's one reason the other is to rededicate myself to a daily time with the Lord and to draw closer to Him. I truly believe this is going to be a time of great action and movement from and for God in my life and in my town and I know I must be spirtually prepared for it.
Tracy don't know if you will read this before tomorrow night, but as your "night owl" sister one of the things I truly struggle with is getting up early and reading the word. I have tried, I have done it and then I have failed. When I had a regular reading time, which I haven't for this entire year, it has always been at night when I have been most successful. I always begin my day with prayer, usually in the shower, but getting up to read is just a struggle for me. My brain is much more alert at 11 at night then at 5 in the morning. What are your thoughts on this?

Gayle, keep it up. You begin your day with prayer and that's good, you end your day with reading your Bible or doing this study and that's great. As long as you fix your eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2) and don't look at your circumstances, He will reward you. If there is anyway to get in a verse of encouragement like an index card or post it on your bathroom mirror or refridgerator, that is another way of soaking up the word. Reading also doesn't have to be hours at a time. Just one verse at a time may be all you can handle that early in the morning. Like Elizabeth said "Something is better than nothing and always strive for more." IDEA: Do you have a devotional book that you could read to your kids as a bedtime story? That is another way to get in a reading ;-) Take care and God Bless You

Thank you Leigh Ann. I actually started reading the Bible with both my boys every night around April. We read from David's children's Bible and then from The Message. We started with Proverbs and now we are working our way through Psalms. Jonathan(my eldest)and I take turns praying. He amazes me because all his prayers are thank you. Every once in a while he will ask for something but not often. I hadn't thought of the verse on the mirror. That's a great idea and I could work on memorizing it. Thanks for the tip.

I agree with what Leigh Anne had to say. I worked my way up to having my morning time with God, and it still doesn't happen every day. I just ask Him to give me the sleep, energy, and strength that I need to do what He wants me to do. I try to trust Him to wake me up and get me up most mornings to have my quiet time. Some mornings He lets me sleep in and catch up. These are the days I read my Bible as I blow dry my hair or catch a few verses at breakfast.
